Allegheny Health Network’s Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy is offering hope for depression patients like Valerie Bojarski. Unlike medications, TMS utilizes magnetic pulses to alter brain activity. Sessions, lasting 4 to 20 minutes, are conducted five days a week for six weeks. Bojarski and over two dozen others in Pittsburgh have reported positive outcomes. Dr. Steven Forman, director of AHN Psych. Neuromodulation, expresses optimism about TMS’s effectiveness.
