NEWTON, Mass., May 23, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Achieve TMS, the largest U.S. provider of BrainsWay’s Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (Deep TMS), announced the opening of a new facility in Newton, Massachusetts. This will be the 11th facility operating across the state of Mass. The company will host a grand opening event at the new location on Thursday, May 31 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
“With 16 million Americans suffering from depression and about half of them unable to respond to or tolerate antidepressant medications, there has been a tremendous gap in treatment,” said Marjorie Pierce, Director of Operations of Achieve TMS East. “With treatment-resistant depression rates only rising due to the ineffectiveness of medications, offering Deep TMS is more critical than ever. Deep TMS has been able to provide relief when so many other treatments have failed.”
BrainsWay Deep TMS is a safe, FDA-cleared, non-invasive treatment for depression. The cushioned helmet stimulates the prefrontal cortex of the brain – the region involved in depression. The short 20-minute treatment sessions allow for little to no disruption in a patient’s daily activity without the traditional side effects of many medications. Immediately after treatment, patients are able to drive home and return to their routine, including work commitments. Deep TMS has been tested and proven in over 60 clinical studies in leading institutions worldwide.
At the open house event, guests will have the opportunity to tour the facility, watch a live demonstration of the treatment, as well as learn more about Deep TMS through a Q&A session with trained doctors. The night will start off with a ribbon cutting ceremony from Dr. Oscar Morales, Chief Medical Officer at Achieve TMS East and Medical Director of the McLean Hospital TMS Service and Dr. Erin Valenti, psychiatrist at Achieve TMS East.
Appointments are currently being accepted, and patients may request a free informational session to determine if Deep TMS is right for them. The new facility is located at 93 Union Street, Suite 303B in Newton, MA. For more information, call (413) 570-6710 or visit www.achievetmseast.com.
About Achieve TMS
Understanding the needs of those suffering from depression in the Northeast, Achieve TMS East’s founder, Dr. Thomas Bombardier, brought the Achieve TMS organization and mission from the west coast to the east. Achieve TMS East opened its first deep TMS clinic in December of 2016 in Northampton, MA and fifteen months later we are celebrating the opening of our 11th clinic in Newton. Achieve TMS East continues to grow within Massachusetts to make this treatment accessible for everyone. Eventually we plan to have sites in Connecticut and in other states in New England and the Northeast.
