Major Depressive Disorder is one of the most acute, widespread pathologies of our time. It can heavily impact a person's life in a variety of ways, generating waves of sadness, sleeplessness, changes in appetite and weight, and difficulty in following one's daily routine.
Depression often seems like a bleak cycle from which there is no escape. Traditional treatments, such as antidepressants or ECT, often heighten the despair by failing to provide an adequate solution for many patients, due to various disadvantages such as low efficacy, severe long-term side effects, anesthesia and hospitalization.
Brainsway – A New Era in Depression Treatment
Brainsway™ has launched a new era in depression treatment, with a safe, effective drug-free solution which can restore wellbeing for Depression patients. Brainsway's dTMS (Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is a non-invasive treatment which can stimulate the brain region responsible for depression and bring significant improvement to patients.
A well-tolerated short-term outpatient procedure, Brainsway dTMS does not require hospitalization or anesthesia, and entails no memory loss, no long-term or systemic side effects and no indefinite drug regime.
Brainsway dTMS has been cleared by the FDA for the treatment of depressive episodes in adult patients suffering from Major Depressive Disorder, who failed to achieve satisfactory improvement from previous anti-depressant medication treatment in the current depressive episode (FDA 510(k) No. 122888).
Short Sessions, Effective for a Wide Range of Depression Cases
Brainsway's dTMS has been proven to be highly effective for a wide range of depression cases, from mild to persistent drug-resistant cases. It has been proven to be helpful for patients who tried 1-4 types of antidepressants but did not improve. A short-term outpatient procedure, Brainsway dTMS sessions provide effective results in nearly half the time of other treatments (just 20 minutes compared to 37 with traditional TMS). Moreover, Brainsway dTMS does not require anesthesia, and entails no memory loss and no long-term or systemic side effects.
Brief Short-Term Treatment
Brainsway's dTMS is s short-term treatment requiring only brief daily sessions of 20 minutes over 4-6 weeks. In each session, the patient is comfortably seated in a chair, and a cushioned helmet is gently placed over the head. The helmet generates brief magnetic fields, similar to those used in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems. After each session, patients can return home independently, and immediately resume their daily routine.
