Major Depressive Disorder is one of the most acute, widespread pathologies of our time. It can heavily impact a person's life in a variety of ways, generating waves of sadness, sleeplessness, changes in appetite and weight, and difficulty in following one's daily routine.
Depression often seems like a bleak cycle from which there is no escape. Traditional depression treatments, such as antidepressants or ECT, often heighten the despair by failing to provide an adequate solution for many patients, due to various disadvantages such as low efficacy, severe side effects, anesthesia and hospitalization.
Brainsway – A New Era in Depression Treatment
Brainsway™ has launched a new era in depression treatment, with a safe, effective drug-free solution which can restore wellbeing for depression patients. Brainsway's Deep TMS (Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is a non-invasive treatment which can stimulate the brain region responsible for depression and bring significant improvement to patients.
A well-tolerated short-term outpatient depression treatment, Brainsway Deep TMS does not require hospitalization or anesthesia, and entails no memory loss, no systemic side effects and no indefinite drug regime.
Short Sessions, Effective for a Wide Range of Depression Cases
Brainsway's Deep TMS has been proven to be a highly effective depression treatment for a wide range of patients cases, from mild to persistent drug-resistant depression. It has been proven to be helpful for patients who tried 1-4 types of antidepressants but did not improve. A short-term outpatient procedure, Brainsway Deep TMS sessions provide effective results in nearly half the time of other treatments (just 20 minutes compared to 37 with traditional TMS). Moreover, Brainsway Deep TMS does not require anesthesia, and entails no memory loss and no systemic side effects.
Brief Short-Term Treatment
Brainsway's Deep TMS is s short-term depression treatment requiring only brief daily sessions of 20 minutes over 4-6 weeks. In each depression treatment session, the patient is comfortably seated in a chair, and a cushioned helmet is gently placed over the head. The helmet generates brief magnetic fields, similar to those used in MRI systems. Throughout the session, patients remain alert and awake, and immediately afterwards, patients can return home independently to resume their daily routine.
* Brainsway Deep TMS has been cleared by the FDA for the treatment of depressive episodes in adult patients suffering from Major Depressive Disorder, who failed to achieve satisfactory improvement from previous anti-depressant medication treatment in the current depressive episode (FDA 510(k) No. K122288).
