Brainsway Deep TMS Therapy - for Brain Disorder Treatment

Neural correlates of clinical improvement after deep transcranial magnetic stimulation (DTMS) for treatment-resistant depression: a case report using functional magnetic resonance imaging

This study utilized Brainsway deep TMS, or deep transcranial magnetic stimulation, in a patient with treatment resistant depression. Following 4 weeks of daily treatment there was a significant alleviation of symptoms, and additional improvement was observed at the one month follow-up. The beneficial effect of the treatment was accompanied by a significant increase in the activity in the site of stimulation (DLPFC) to baseline, as detected by fMRI during working memory task. Thus, it is possible that Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, much like antidepressant drugs, can normalize brain activity in depressed patients.
